Technology is such a great tool to use for education. Children do not learn the same and it is amazing to have tools that can reach students in so many ways. Technology is a great resource for students for diverse students in different cultures. With the internet the students can practice at home with translation tools when they get stuck on a word and need help translating.

Games are a great to encourage students to learn without knowing they are learning. Before games were considered a distraction not games are created to help a student learn. Interactive story books are amazing because not only do they read to you but they ask the student questions. Reading through interactive storyboards with animations if more fun the sitting at your desk reading a book and answering questions from the teacher. As a student if they get the answer wrong they can immediate understand why they got it wrong without feeling embarrassed.

From visiting schools for an observation I was able to watch smart boards in action. Teachers can read books for Halloween with a scary theme song in the back ground keeping the students interested.  What was more amazing was the teacher was able to underline, circle and mark the books on the smart board which can be used to further the teacher’s lessons. With the smart board the books were also able to read the text in the book.

Smartboards or whiteboards are in my eyes large touch screens. I found a video on different ways to use a whiteboard on Films on Demand. I really cant wait to use this tool in my future classroom. I can see how useful and fun it would be to school the students their lessons.

Learning with Interactive Whiteboards

Being able to see the technology used in schools is incredible. Technology has furthered education and help change it so it can be adapted toward each individual student’s needs.
